I met Joy Munshower while picking out tile for my house at a local tile store.
I saw some custom etched tile and thought to myself, I wonder if I can have a
tile made for the entryway to my Statue of Liberty collection.
I told her my idea and she said to bring in or email some images I thought would
be good for the project. We decided on a small image of liberty and she
assured me she would make it fit on the 18-inch tile. A couple of days
later, I had this master piece in my hands and ready to be installed during my
flooring upgrade. The tile used was a regular piece of 18-inch (457.2 mm)
porcelain floor tile.
The light color is where it was sand blasted to remove the tile finish, about
1/32 (.79 mm) of an inch was removed. The darker color is the original
color which was one shade darker than the installed tile. This made for
more of a medallion look and will draw attention. Maintenance is only to apply a
grout sealer after install and then normal floor cleaning afterwards.
